Morphological Evolution and Sedimentological Study of the Essaouira Bay and the Mouth of Oued Ksob, Essaouira, Morocco

The coastline of Essaouira is located on the Atlantic coast Morocco. Bay this city a large sandy system strongly marked by coastal and fluvial dynamics, which makes it perfect example sedimentology processes in area. using satellite imagery allows us to determine morphological evolution mouth Oued Ksob. results study show with areas erosion others accumulation. analysis images distinguish three very different sectors: first north estuary Ksob, area receives most flood contributions helps maintain its morpho-sedimentary balance. second sector, composed characterized hydrodynamic both maritime. third sector south not affected effect presence obstacle island Mogador. sedimentological carried out four areas, are: dunes, has undergone numerous recorded positions since late 19th century, estuary, mouth. Several analyses were namely: granulometry, morphoscopy, calcimetry, X-ray diffraction, confirmed that origin studied sediments continental marine.
